Dee Hsu, the younger sister of late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, has dismissed reports that her brother-in-law, South Korean musician DJ Koo, filed a legal claim to inherit his late wife’s estate, according to reporting by VnExpress International.

Speaking to Taiwanese media, Dee Hsu described the claims as false and rejected suggestions of any inheritance dispute involving DJ Koo.

“Anyone spreading this rumor has malicious intent,” she said. “My brother-in-law gave my sister pure love and true happiness. Our family is very grateful to him. DJ Koo is part of our family. We will protect him, not harm him.”

Barbie Hsu’s mother, Huang Chunmei, also publicly defended her son-in-law, denying reports of any legal conflict between the family and DJ Koo. She emphasized her opposition to legal battles and reaffirmed her close relationship with him.

“I hate lawsuits. They only waste everyone’s time and money,” Huang said. “I now call DJ Koo my son. He loved my daughter deeply and respected me. I care about him very much as well.”

Earlier reports from several Taiwanese media outlets had suggested that DJ Koo was preparing for a legal battle with Huang Chunmei over inheritance matters tied to Barbie Hsu’s estate. Other reports claimed Huang was upset and had hired a lawyer to protect her interests. However, both Huang and Dee Hsu have rejected those claims.

Addressing the situation previously, DJ Koo said he was enduring deep grief following his wife’s death and clarified his intentions regarding inheritance.

“What my wife left behind was the result of her hard work and was meant to protect the family she loved throughout her life,” he said. “Therefore, I intend to transfer all rights related to my share to her mother.”

Barbie Hsu, best known for her roles in the television dramas “Meteor Garden,” “Mars,” and “Summer’s Desire,” died in Japan at the age of 49 due to pneumonia-related complications, VnExpress International reported.

She married DJ Koo, whose real name is Koo Jun Yup, in February 2022 following her divorce in 2021 from businessman Wang Xiaofei, 45. DJ Koo is 57 years old.
