The Champagnery Brings Back Proper Ladies’ Nights to Amoy Street With Free-Flow Bubbly and Female DJs
A new champagne lounge is quietly reshaping Amoy Street’s nightlife. As first reported by Time Out Singapore, The Champagnery has slipped into the neighbourhood’s growing lineup of speakeasy-style bars, joining the ranks of Stay Gold Flamingo and Employees Only, both concealed behind heavy drapes and out of plain sight.
To find it, guests pass through the grab-and-go sandwich counter of Mamma Mia Focaccia, weaving between trays of focaccia and a humming coffee machine before arriving at a bold crimson door. Behind it sits a dimly lit lounge defined by checkered floors, gold accents and LED screens. The layout signals its intent: a DJ booth commands the centre of the room, pink light strips glow around the bar counter, and low tables line the sides, clearly designed for a night that leans into dancing.
The main draw is the Wednesday Soirée, The Champagnery’s revival of the traditional ladies’ night. Every Wednesday from 8pm to 11pm, women enjoy unlimited pours of bubbly for three hours. In a nightlife climate where ladies’ nights often amount to token discounts or diluted perks, this free-flow format feels strikingly generous. According to Time Out Singapore, it may currently be the only three-hour unlimited bubbly concept of its kind in the city.
What fills the flute depends on the week. Some evenings feature Jacques Picard Brut Iconique NV as the house pour — a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir. Other weeks rotate in sparkling wines, most commonly Prosecco. It is, after all, free-flow.
Energy levels rise noticeably around 10pm, when the DJs take control. Music Director Erin Khan curates the sound, spotlighting female DJs on Wednesdays, including EJ Missy, familiar to regulars at Club Kyo. Expect a mix of modern house, R&B and soul-house. On weekends, the party extends later, often running past 2am.
Securing a spot requires vigilance. The bar releases weekly guest lists for the Wednesday Soirée via Instagram, and capacity is capped at 60 guests. Once full, entry shifts to a wait-at-the-door arrangement until space frees up. The crowd trends slightly older, well dressed and more interested in socialising than raving, reflected in a minimum age policy of 25.
Champagne, however, remains the centrepiece. The list features established houses including Ruinart, Henri Giraud, Louis Roederer, Dom Perignon, Krug and Bollinger. For bigger celebrations, bottles climb into the four-figure range. A rare Salon Blanc de Blanc Le Mesnil 2013, priced at $2700, is also available — one of just five bottles in Singapore — for those in a particularly extravagant mood.
Alongside the champagne selection are four bubbly-based cocktails and a lineup of classics such as negronis and whisky sours, though the menu is set to change in April. Drinks here are straightforward rather than experimental. The French 75, built with Bombay Sapphire gin, citrus and sparkling wine, arrives crisp and zesty but somewhat linear. The Clarified Pornstar ($24) skews sweet, topped with passionfruit foam, while the Rose 75 ($26) introduces raspberry for a floral, tart-sweet profile.
A standout is the Airmail ($22), blending rum, citrus, honey, shiso and bubbles into a refreshingly easy-drinking combination. For those in need of sustenance, Mamma Mia Focaccia’s sandwiches are available until 9.30pm, offering a practical base before dancing. The savoury stacks pair surprisingly well with a glass of champagne.
Overall, The Champagnery places champagne firmly back in focus, supported by an appealing ladies’ night concept and a music programme that highlights female talent. While cocktails and food take a secondary role, it remains a noteworthy destination for a girls’ night out.
Time Out Singapore rated the venue 3/5.
The Champagnery operates Tuesdays to Thursdays from 7pm to 3am, and Fridays to Saturdays from 7pm to 4am, at 94 Amoy Street, Singapore 069914.
